Expect a mixed signal loop

There is no universal FDE interview. A strong loop can test coding, system design, project depth, deployment scenarios, AI or data judgment, and customer communication in the same process.

Company-specific details change. Verify the current process with the recruiter instead of treating an unofficial guide as permanent truth.

Prepare four evidence stories

Your stories should survive technical and stakeholder follow-ups.

  • An ambiguous problem you scoped into a smaller useful deployment
  • A production failure you diagnosed and stabilized
  • A customer or stakeholder conflict you resolved without false agreement
  • A reusable pattern you extracted from one-off delivery work

Practice open deployment scenarios

A good response starts with discovery and constraints, not architecture boxes. Clarify users, workflow, data, security, success metrics, failure impact, and rollout before choosing technology.

State assumptions, present a smallest useful deployment, define evals, and explain how you will learn after launch.

Interview anti-patternJumping straight to a fashionable stack can signal weak field judgment even when the architecture is technically plausible.
Sources and notes

Community discussions are used to discover questions. Company responsibilities and compensation prioritize official or first-party sources.
